Mrs. Zezé was a very beloved grandmother and an excellent cook. Her dishes were so appreciated that, with her passing, her family decided to honor her with her own recipe book. However, for the tribute to be complete, it was decided that the recipes should be written in her handwriting, and that's the point where I joined the project: My challenge was to create a font that replicated Mrs. Zezé's handwriting, making it appear as if the book was written by her.
The family sent me notebooks and notes written by Zezé, which I carefully studied to discover the nuances of her writing, understand how she wrote each letter, and from there, design each character to simulate her handwriting. It needed to be a ready-to-use font, as it would be sent to other professionals responsible for the graphic design of the book. Although the font had only a basic set of 176 glyphs, it was a project I made with great care and affection to ensure that the font remained true to Mrs. Zezé's writing when used in the book.
The result was a wonderful book, where the care applied by the family and everyone involved in the project can be felt by all those who read its pages.

Dona Zezé era uma avó muito querida e uma excelente cozinheira. Seus pratos eram tão apreciados que, com sua partida, sua família resolveu homenageá-la com o seu próprio livro de receitas. Mas para a homenagem ser completa, foi decidido que as receitas deveriam ser escritas com sua própria letra, e foi aí que eu entrei no projeto: O meu desafio era criar uma fonte que reproduzisse a letra da Dona Zezé, para parecer que o livro foi escrito por ela.
A família me enviou cadernos e bilhetes escritos pela Zezé, os quais eu estudei atenciosamente para descobrir os ductos de sua escrita, entender como ela escrevia e a partir daí desenhar cada caractere de modo que simulasse a letra dela. Precisava ser uma fonte pronta para uso, pois ela seria enviada a outros profissionais que estavam encarregados do projeto gráfico do livro. Embora a fonte tenha somente um set básico de 176 grifos, foi um projeto que fiz com muito carinho e cuidado para que a fonte fosse fiel à escrita da Dona Zezé na hora de ser utilizada no livro.
